Nampa Roofing Spotlight: Charcoal Asphalt Shingles
As you can see in the photo above, this hip roof turned out fantastic. We completely replaced the entire roof system using GAF Timberline HDZ asphalt shingles (color Charcoal). Whenever a homeowner like yourself is considering a roof replacement, it is important to understand the process. Replacing your roof refers to installing new shingles.
In the case of a hip roof like the one pictured above, the three hips call for more shingles and more ridges to cap compared to a standard A-frame roof. However, the curb appeal and aesthetics speak for themselves in the case of a hip roof, and this project turned out fantastic.
How a New Roof Install Works:
When we install a new roof, the process is always the same. Here at Legacy Roofing of Idaho, we follow these steps to help ensure our clients are satisfied with their new roof.
1. Meet Homeowner
First thing we want to do is meet you! We want to talk to you about your roof’s current condition, your understanding of a new roof replacement, and the best solution for your problem. We will let you know if your roof has a few years of life left. On the other hand, if you need a roof replacement, we can help.
2. Select New Roofing Materials
After meeting you and inspecting your roof, if we determine a new roof is needed, we walk you through the shingle selection process and how pricing works. If your roof is damaged due to a wind storm or mother nature, we will also help you every step of the way with your insurance claim!
3. Pick a Schedule Date
After you select your shingles, we get an estimated delivery date of the roofing materials and select an installation date. Our roofing team typically installs most roofs in one day. We can accommodate any time or day, depending on your needs! The only thing that can get in the way is the Nampa winters!
4. Tear off the old roof
The roof installation process in Nampa starts with removing the old roofing system, including the ridge vents, shingles, and underlayment. Older roofing methods from back in the day would call for simply laying shingles overtop the old roof (not kidding). However, best practice means stripping the old roof down to the roof decking and installing new shingles from there.
5. Replace the roof with New Shingles
After tearing off your old roof, we inspect the condition of the roof decking. If some of the roof decking needs to be replaced, we communicate the number of boards and the price (this is not something we can determine until we inspect the roof). After inspecting the roof decking, we install the underlayment, ice shield, and your new asphalt shingles!
6. Quality inspection & clean-up!
Once the Legacy Roofing team is done with installing your roof, we inspect the roof for quality workmanship and clean up everywhere around your house. This even means we use a magnet to ensure no roofing nails are left behind! To learn more about Nampa, ID Roof Replacements, contact us below!
Frequently Asked Roof Replacement Questions
How much does it cost to replace my old roof?
On average, a new roof can cost anywhere from $8,000 on the low end to $25,000 or more on the high end. It is worth noting that all of this depends on a few variables.
These variables can include existing layers of shingles if wood decking needs to be replaced, the type of roof (hip roof vs. gable roof), and the material you choose – shingles or a metal roof.
All that said, the ultimate factor is size! Roofs are measured per 100 square feet, known as a square, rather than the price per square. A home that requires 10 squares will cost less than a home with 15 squares.
How do I pick the right asphalt shingles for my home, and what shingle colors can I choose from?
There are quite a few shingle options, such as three-tab, architectural shingles, and higher-end architectural shingles. Here at Legacy Roofing of Idaho, we use Timberline HDZ asphalt shingles, which include LayerLock™ Technology and the StainGuard Plus™ Algae Protection, coming with a limited warranty (factory warranties vary per type of shingles).
